SS 317L Plates are an adapted version of another stainless steel alloy with an accumulation of molybdenum alloy. As a result, the plates of SS 317L alloy are stronger and more corrosion-resistant to pitting. A stainless steel alloy of 317L has excellent toughness and temperature resistance. On the other hand, stainless steel 317L is the lower carbon version of 317-grade alloy, offering similar corrosion resistance and strength properties. Their stress-to-rupture resistance and tensile strength are also higher. Cold working is done on stainless steel 317L plates, which can be annealed at temperatures between 1850 F and 2050 F.

What is the Stainless Steel 317L Plates?
There are two types of stainless steel alloy, 317L and 316L. 317L is a low-carbon, high-molybdenum austenitic stainless steel with a higher nickel alloy content than 316L. With the aim of resisting the attack of sulfuric acid compounds, this alloy was developed to combine excellent corrosion resistance with excellent mechanical properties as well as ease of fabrication. The use of these alloys is common in coal-fired power plants for the purpose of flue gas desulfurization. Compared to other austenitic stainless steels, 317L offers a higher creep strength, stress to rupture, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures, as compared to other austenitic stainless steels.
It is important to keep in mind that due to the higher molybdenum and chromium content of the 317L stainless steel grade, it offers excellent corrosion resistance in comparison to stainless steel grades such as 304 or 316. It also resists corrosion caused by phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, and chloride pitting/crevice corrosion. Since this particular grade of 317 has a low carbon content, it is also resistant to sensitization during welding, which indicates that it will be able to prevent intergranular stress corrosion cracking as long as its corrosion resistance is maintained at the grain boundaries of the material. The fact of the matter is that 317L cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but it can be hardened by cold working.

The GIC provides Exporterer Test Certificates in accordance with EN 10204/3.1B, Raw Materials Certificates, and 100% Radiography Test Reports. We also provide Standard certificates like EN 10204 3.1 and additional requirements. NACE MR 01075. FERRITE CONTENT as per norms if clients request it.
