DETAILED INFORMATION
The Purohit Pipe Industries is the leading Exporterer, exporter & supplier of SS 2304 Duplex Plates and Coils. It is also known as S32304 steel, and it is the most widely used duplex steel. In addition to having excellent corrosion resistance and high strength, our Duplex Steel 2304 Plates / Sheets / Coils meet national and universal guidelines because they are made from high-quality standard raw materials.
These SS 2304 Duplex Plates should be forged between 1100 and 1250 degrees Celsius, re-heated as necessary and cooled in still air as necessary. In addition to having 22 percent chromium, 3 percent molybdenum, and 5 percent – 6 percent nickel alloy, Duplex Stainless Steel UNS S32304 Perforated Sheets are two-phase, ferritic and austenitic steels.
While our Duplex Steel UNS S32304 Coils provide better corrosion resistance, much of the Duplex S32304 currently being produced also complies with this specification. Meanwhile, we produce Duplex Steel UNS S32304 Plates with a blended microstructure of austenite and ferrite, resulting in a 50/50 blend, despite the fact that 40/60 is a typical blend in business composites.

SS 2304 Duplex Plates Advantages and Disadvantages
SS 2304 Duplex stainless steel consists of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel grades. As a result of its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability, it is ideal for a wide range of applications in fields such as chemical processing, oil, and gas drilling, pulp and paper production, and more.
Advantages of SS 2304 Duplex Plates:
- The SS 2304 Duplex Plates have excellent corrosion resistance, which is higher than the corrosion resistance of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel grades.
- High strength: Duplex stainless steel 2304 plates have a high yield strength and tensile strength, making them ideal for use in applications that are subject to high levels of stress.
- Good weldability: The SS 2304 Duplex Plates have good weldability, making it easy to combine them with other metals and alloys.
- Cost-effective: As compared to other high-performance alloys, SS 2304 Duplex Plates have a relatively low cost and are a good value for money.
Disadvantages of SS 2304 Duplex Plates:
-
- Reduced toughness: Due to the reduced toughness of SS 2304 Duplex Plates in comparison with austenitic stainless steel grades, they may be more prone to fracture due to brittleness.
- Sensitivity to temperature: Duplex stainless steel plates in the SS 2304 series are sensitive to temperature changes, which may cause them to lose some of their mechanical properties.
- Limited availability: Due to the lack of availability of SS 2304 Duplex Plates, it may be more difficult for some regions to source them, as the grade is not as widely available as other stainless steel grades.
- Limited corrosion resistance in certain environments: In certain environments, such as those where the levels of chloride are high or in which acidic solutions are present, SS 2304 Duplex Plates may not be able to offer adequate corrosion resistance.
SS 2304 Duplex Plates heat treatment
In order to improve the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of stainless steel 2304 duplex plates, they are typically heat treated. SS 2304 Duplex Plates undergo a solution annealing process that is followed by a quenching process during the heat treatment process.
- Solution annealing treatment: The solution annealing treatment is the first step that must be taken in the heat treatment process. At a temperature of 1050°C to 1150°C, the plates are heated for a specific period of time, normally between 30 minutes and 1 hour, and then they are held at this temperature for a specific period of time. As a result of this treatment, any chromium carbides that may have been formed during the manufacturing process will be dissolved and the material will be improved in terms of its microstructure.
- In the heat treatment process, the second step that is taken is the quenching treatment, which is the final step of the process. The plates are rapidly cooled in water or oil baths until they reach a temperature below 50°C by means of rapid cooling. During this process of rapid cooling, a fine-grained microstructure is created in the material and its mechanical properties are improved, as a result of the fine-grained microstructure.
To further improve the mechanical properties of the SS 2304 Duplex Plates, additional processing steps may be required, such as cold working or stress relieving, following the heat treatment process. There is an important point to be noted, which is that the heat treatment process for SS 2304 Duplex Plates should be carried out by trained professionals in accordance with industry standards in order to ensure the best results.

Alloy 630 Round Bars Heat Treatment
Designation | Processing |
Condition A |
Heat treated at 1900°F*25°F for 1/2 hour, air cooled or oil quenched to below 90°F. Usually performed at a mill. In most applications, 17-4 stainless steel should not be used in Condition A, even though it may provide the necessary tensile strength. The structure is an untempered martensite that has low fracture toughness and ductility, while having poor resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. Superior service performance is assured by using 17-4 stainless steel in the heat-treated condition. For optimum machining results; if no ageing condition is specified, H1150 should be used. |
H900 | A material heated at 900°F*15°F for 1 hour and cooled by air. High hardness but low toughness. Sensitive to stress corrosion cracking. Heating for 4 hours improves toughness with about a 4 ksi reduction in tensile and yield. |
H925, H1025, H1075, H1100, H1150 |
A material heated 4 hours at a specific temperature, then cooled by air. |
HH1150 | The material was heated for 4 hours at 1150F, cooled by air, and then heated for another 4 hours at 1150F and cooled by air. |
H1150-M | Material heated at 1400°F*25°F for 2 hours, cooled by air, then heated at 1150°F*15°F for 4 hours and cooled by air. |
