DETAILED INFORMATION
forged socket weld fittings in accordance with ASME B16.11 is Purohit Pipe Industries. Forged socket weld fittings are available in stainless steel (ASTM A182 F316L, F304L), carbon steel, and alloy steel grades. In addition to socket weld elbows, socket weld tees, and socket weld crosses, we also offer socket weld fittings. Socket weld fittings are widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, shipbuilding, dairy, breweries, waste water treatment, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
Dedicated to better serving our customers, we offer socket weld fittings with pressure ratings of 3000, 6000, and 9000. We are always adding to our diverse product range of socket weld fittings in pressure ratings of 3000, 6000, and 9000 so that we can better serve our valued customers.
A socket weld fitting is an attachment detail in which the pipe is inserted into the recess of a valve, fitting, or flange to attach it. In contrast with buttweld fittings, socket weld fittings are typically used for pipes with nominal diameters of NPS 2 or smaller (Small Bore Piping).

Socket Welded Pipe Fittings Types
As well as elbows, tees, caps, and reducers, socket welded pipe fittings also include couplings (full couplings, half couplings, reducing couplings), reducing inserts (types 1, 2, and 3), and socket welded unions.
In addition to carbon steel and alloy steel, stainless steel is also available.
Carbon steel socket weld fittings
Standards: ASTM A234 for WPBs and WPCs, ASTM A105 for WPBs
Fittings made of alloy steel SW
The ASTM A234 WP5 QP9 QP11 QP22 QP91 standard covers the following: WP5, QP9, QP11, QP22, QP91
Stainless steel socket weld fittings
Stainless steel according to ASTM A403, stainless steel according to ASTM A182, and stainless steel according to ASTM A403
Below we will explain by each type.
Socket Weld Elbow
Forging process is used to manufacture socket weld pipe elbows with 45 degree and 90 degree angles for changing fluid flow direction in pipelines with long radius (LR with 1.5xOD) and short radius (SR with 1x0D).
Socket Weld Tee
There are also straight tees and reducing tees. Tees are socket welds that create 90-degree branches from the main pipe runs. A reducing tee connects the smaller pipe branches.
Socket Weld Cross
From the main pipeline, three 90-degree branches were created by the socket weld.
Socket Weld Cap
Socket weld cap is to seal the pipe end.
Socket Weld Coupling
There are three types of socket weld couplings: Full Couplings, Half Couplings, and Reducing Couplings.
Full Coupling
With socket weld full couplings, two pipes are joined using welding.
Half Coupling
An end of a half coupling is welded with sockets, and the other ends are welded with bolts.
Reducing Coupling
A socket is welded between two pipes of different diameters to reduce coupling.
Reducing Insert
The reducing insert provides different combinations for quick connection with different pipe diameters with another socket weld pipe or fitting.
Socket Weld Union
As you can see in the above photo, a socket weld union has a screwed joint in the middle for connecting three parts, and the internal threads will connect two parts If you tighten the screws before doing the socket welding, the seats will be less likely to warp.
Sockolet
A socket weld fitting is used when welding a small diameter pipe to a large diameter pipe, as with weldolet and threadolet. Sockolets are used when welding small diameter pipes to large diameter pipes in socket weld fittings since they offer a precise 90 degree turning and greater strength to handle high pressures than other types. Compared to other types, the olet offers a precise 90 degree turning and a better ability to handle high pressures.
During installation, sockets are connected to outlet bores, and another bore is shaped in the form of an oval and span shape to ensure that they are securely attached to the larger pipe. It can sometimes replace tees entirely, saving money and simplifying the process, similar to reducer tees. Larger diameter pipes require higher temperatures, pressures, and thicker walls.
Socket Weld Flange
In the socket weld flange, also called the SW flange, the pipe is inserted into the recessed area and connected to the welding work using a recessed shoulder. This welding structural is more suitable with small pipelines and provides a smooth bore and good liquid transmission.
There are also SW Flanges with RF (Raised Face), FF (Flat Face), and RTJ (Ring Tenon Joint) options, as well as pressure ranges of 150#, 300#, 600#, 1500# and 2500#.
Features of Socket Weld Fittings
The socket weld pipe fittings are used in a variety of industrial applications because of their high pressure ratings. In pipelines, they are used for transporting chemicals that are flammable, toxic, or hazardous. Due to their compliance with ASME and ASTM standards and specifications, socket weld fittings are of high quality.
There is also a classification of socket welding pipe fittings based on the material they are made of.

Advantages of Socket Weld Pipe Fittings
- Preparation of the weld does not require beveling the pipe.
- It is possible to adjust the welding position to flat welding.
- Alignment is generally not required to use temporary tack welding. This is due to the fitting principle, which ensures the alignment is accurate.
- This is due to the fact that the socket weld metal is not able to penetrate the bore of the pipe.
- Socket welding has proven to be more economical than butt welding, as it eliminates the need for special machines and reduces the precision assembly requirements.
Usage/ Application of socket weld fittings
The following socket weld pipe fittings are normally used in high pressure pipeline systems in different industries:
- The oil and gas industry, as well as petrochemicals.
- The study of medicine.
- Nuclear or electric power stations.
- Controlling the environment is important.
- Constructing aeronautical systems.
- Systems that protect against fire.
- Sludge from mining.
- Shipbuilding.
Socket Weld Pipe Fitting Packaging
