What is the purpose of prefabricated pipe spools?
With shop pre-fabrication, pipe spools can be fabricated with the highest quality while reducing field installation costs.
Fabrication of pipe spools is typically performed by specialist fabrication companies, which are equipped with the necessary infrastructure to fabricate these spools.
As part of the quality management process, the fabricators follow a set of quality control criteria to guarantee that the fabrication is accurate and meets the client’s technical requirements.
Prefabrication, inspection, and testing cost savings
High accuracies on specified tolerances will avoid rework on the Jobsite and enable better quality control.
Production delays will be minimized by weather-independent fabrication.
In situations where skill shortages and labor shortages are severe, prefabricated spools are a perfect solution. Users do not need to mobilize a significant workforce for the fabrication of spools.
By Exporting in mass, Exporting costs will be lower than by fabricating on-site.
Spools that are prefabricated will require less fabrication/assembly time, thereby reducing overruns in time & cost.
Using prefabricated spools requires no or little investment by users in fabrication & testing equipment. Radiography, PMI, MPI, Ultrasonic tests, Hydro tests, etc. can all be performed better and more effectively in controlled environments.
Under the strict supervision of Third Party Inspection Agencies, Prefabricated Spools will be serviced in a manner that ensures 100% adherence to the quality standards and requirements.
Controlled environments result in a lower probability of site rework due to better control over welding parameters.
When weldless induction bends are utilized (permitted by the client), we can completely avoid welding pipe sections using SR elbows, which leads to substantial cost savings in welding, radiography of welding joints, and materials.
Reduced reliance on power availability, avoiding unnecessary delays.
Enhanced safety in better Exportering conditions.
As a result of fabricating spools off-site, less slag, abrasive dust, smoke, etc., can be generated, which is unacceptable in highly hygienic industries such as food processing, pharmaceutical, and chemical Exporting.

Fabrication of pipe spools has four advantages
Pipes used in industrial production have numerous applications. The fossil fuel and petrochemical industries wouldn’t exist without them. Because of their complex design, construction must be handled correctly to ensure the success of a project for years to come. One of the most significant advantages of designing, building, and commissioning pipelines is the prefabrication of pipe spools. You should choose pipe spool fabrication over on-site fabrication for four reasons.
Qualitatively improved
On-site pipe spool fabrication can be problematic due to dust, grime, and mud on construction sites. Inexperienced personnel can also result in quality deficiencies on-site. Since the factory environment is controlled, pipe spool fabrication can take place under ideal conditions, using qualified pipefitters, welders, and fabricators. Additionally, top-of-the-line equipment is available to the team.
Timeliness is essential
When it’s raining, snowing, or sleeting, on-site fabrication will face significant delays, preventing the project from getting completed. Factory fabrication ensures your project will get done on time, regardless of on-site weather conditions.
In addition, industrial sites can be chaotic, so fabricating the piping off-site will result in fewer disruptions and less lost productivity.
Tests were improved.
The degree and quality of factory testing exceed what is possible on-site because factories are controlled environments where highly experienced technicians can use the best testing equipment.
Inexpensive
The benefits of factory fabrication translate into substantial cost savings compared to on-site fabrication. Large quantities of pipe spools can be produced in a short period of time with the best personnel and machinery. Another significant component of pipe spooling is using bends v/s elbows as they provide better flow and reduce the number of welds and radiography points. Because fewer welds mean fewer testing points and possible failure points, the cost per item is significantly reduced.
Furthermore, a factory’s controlled environment minimizes workplace injuries, enabling fabrication to occur more quickly and safely.
We fabricate industrial piping to many industry standards and codes, both national and international.
Fabricators of pipe-spools
Your piping project will be of the highest quality and dependable quality as Advanced Flow Systems has extensive experience in pipe spool fabrication. Our state-of-the-art production facilities and highly trained staff ensure that the pipe spools we make will fit your on-site specifications, so you stay on time and under budget.
Features of SPOOLMAN
Release of construction documents
With this pipe spool erection software, various phases of the Fabrication / Erection cycle can be pre-defined based on the project NDT plan, piping material specifications, fluid codes and services, paint specifications, and AG/UG category requirements.
Control of materials
Material availability is checked for the fabrication/erection of the spool/line with this product, spool/lines are assigned according to the workload available with the subcontractor, the material is assigned and issued to the subcontractor for the assigned spools/lines, drawings are handed over to the subcontractor for fabrication and erection after all materials are available.
Analysis of matching fronts
-
Front analysis for fabrication:
Depending on the materials available at the store and the materials needed to make individual spools, the software performs a front analysis for fabrication. A front analysis identifies which lines, spools, and joints can be fabricated. Color coding indicates how possible they are (Green – Completely possible, Yellow – Partially possible, Red – Not possible).
A list of material constraint lists (the materials required in store to fabricate all partial spools that are possible and not possible) is generated automatically. A list of balance material available in stores, effective scope & noneffective scope can also be generated. A spool-wise Inch Dia possible for fabrication report generates reports on all possible spools, partially possible spools, and not possible spools.
-
Front analysis for erection:
On the basis of erection material available in the store and fabricated spools, the Software performs the front analysis. The associated equipment erection and technical structure installation can also be taken into consideration for the erection front analysis.
Based on the analysis, we are able to identify the lines that are completely possible for erection, partially possible lines for erection, and lines that are not possible for erection with possible inch measurement. Erection item material constraint list and constraint spools status list are automatically generated for monitoring.
Planning for construction
In this software, the planning engineer analyzes the work front availability and assigns spools and lines to the subcontractor on the basis of the subcontractor’s scope of work (such as units, areas, AG and UG piping, fabrication, erection, and service) in the project. The work assigned to the subcontractors is documented with transmittal numbers & scope in Inch Diameter / Inch Meter / Weight allocated against the same.
Release from the front
Using the Front release, the subcontractors are provided with the materials and corresponding drawings to ensure the front has been released for fabrication/erection.
Assembling
The fabrication shop and PMI (positive material identification) were inspected before using the store material for production fit-up.
It includes parameters like root gap, bevel angle, heat numbers, alignment, etc. The production activity can be customized & automated through barcode and scanning technology with live / batch progress updates via WIFI and data transfer.
Pipe spool fabrication key takeaways:
- The process is conducted off-site in a controlled environment.
- Construction time will be reduced.
- It is easier to manage the quality of the work
- Production delays can be minimized by fabricating in facilities.
