DETAILED INFORMATION
In addition to having excellent mechanical properties at subzero temperatures, Monel K500 offers additional advantages due to its added aluminum and titanium content, which provide increased strength and hardness as compared to Monel 400. As well as bearing corrosion resistance, Monel K500 also has high strength and hardness. Monel K500 has a higher yield and tensile strength than Monel 400.
Various sizes and thicknesses of Monel 400 Pipes & Tubes are available as per customer requirements. In order to build durable and sustainable products, we put all our products through quality control measures.
In addition to having a smaller amount of copper and manganese, Monel 400 is a nickel-copper solid solution alloy. Cold-working is the only way to harden it, making it suitable for subzero temperatures. It is also suitable for use in a wide range of temperatures and environments. Because of its resistance to substances such as seawater and other caustic solutions, this metal is used in acidic and alkaline environments. Despite its many uses in marine industries, as well as heat exchangers, Monel 400 often requires strengthening because of its low annealed strength.
Tempering is necessary for improving hardness and elasticity. Monel 400 is also poor in the area of oxidation resistance; however, it is excellent under stress and corrosion in salt water, fresh water, brackish water, and others As well as being resistant to hydrochloric environments, Monel 400 is also virtually impervious to chlorine. It offers the same corrosion resistance as nickel but is often preferred because of its lower price and much higher pressure and temperature resistance.

What is the Monel Alloy 400?
Monel Alloy 400 is a nickel-copper alloy with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance that can withstand corrosive environments such as seawater, acids, and alkalis with ease. The composition of this metal is approximately 67% nickel, 23% copper, and small amounts of iron, manganese, and other elements as well. This material is well known for its excellent mechanical properties, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in a wide range of industries, including marine engineering, chemical processing, and aerospace. Furthermore, it has a good thermal conductivity and is resistant to stress corrosion cracking. It is possible to fabricate Monel 400 in a variety of ways, including welding, brazing, and soldering.
Characteristics Of Monel Alloy 400 / UNS N04400 / DIN 2.4360 Products
- Suitable for corrosion resistance in a wide range of marine and chemical environments. From pure water to nonoxidizing acids, salts, and alkalis.
- The alloy is more resistant to nickel under reducing conditions and more resistant to copper under oxidizing conditions, but it shows better resistance to reducing media than to oxidizing media.
- It has good mechanical properties from subzero temperatures up to about 480C.
- There is good resistance to sulfuric and hydrofluoric acids. Aeration, however, will increase corrosion rates. Hydrochloric acid may be handled, but the presence of oxidizing salts will greatly accelerate corrosion.
- There is good resistance to neutral, alkaline, and acid salts, but poor resistance is found with oxidizing acid salts, such as ferric chloride.
- Stress corrosion cracking resistance is excellent against chloride ions.
