Due to their good performance at low temperatures, these bars can also be used offshore. In addition to their durability, our steel round bars are shock resistant and can function for a long time with little maintenance.
Nickel, chromium, and molybdenum combine in EN24 steel alloy to produce a tool and steel alloy that is extremely strong, ductile, and corrosion-resistant. Furthermore, it is highly hard and readily machinable, making it a popular engineering steel.
Generally supplied hardened and tempered in the tensile range of 930 – 1080 Mpa (Condition U), Rc 28 – 36, EN25 Round Bars contain 2.5% Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum.
It has high strength and toughness in very large sections – similar to EN26 but with a lower carbon content. In addition to prehardened and tempered EN25, it can be further surface hardened by flame or induction hardening as well as by nitriding. There are many applications in most industries that require higher tensile and yield strengths than 4140 can provide. EN25 is extensively used in these industries.

Forging of EN25 Alloy Steel Round Bar :
Heat to 1150°C – 1200°C maximum and hold until temperature is uniform throughout. It is not recommended to forge below 850°C. After forging, the workpiece should be cooled in sand or dry lime as slowly as possible.
Machining of EN25 Alloy Steel Round Bar :
Hardened and tempered EN25 is still considered machinable and operations such as turning and drilling etc. can be carried out satisfactorily using machine manufacturers’ recommendations for tool type – feeds and speeds.
Welding of EN25 Round Bars :
If at all possible, avoid welding EN25 in the hardened and tempered condition (as normally supplied), as the mechanical properties will be altered in the weld heat affected zone. On EN25, it is preferred that welding be performed while it is annealed, and that after cooling to hand warm, the work piece be stress relieved at 640°C – 660°C before hardening and tempering.
The workpiece should be stress relieved at 15°C below the original tempering temperature immediately upon cooling to hand warm if welding in the hardened and tempered condition is necessary.
