What is the purpose of the Pipe End Bevel Protector Caps?
A Pipe End Bevel Protector Cap is one of the protective caps used to cover the ends of pipes that have been cut and beveled to facilitate welding. It is important to note that these caps are intended to protect the beveled edges of the line from damage during transportation, storage, and handling.
A beveled edge is an angle created when the end of the pipe is cut to prepare it for welding when it is cut at an angle to create this angled surface. Without protection, this edge is very vulnerable to damage, such as chipping or cracking if it is not protected.
In most cases, pipe end bevel protector caps are constructed of plastic or metal and are designed to fit over the end of the pipe that has been beveled. In addition to being easy to install and remove, these sealants provide a secure and tight seal that prevents damage to the beveled edge when they are in place.
In addition to protecting the beveled edge, these caps can also help to prevent contaminants such as dust, dirt, and moisture from entering the pipe, which can help to ensure the integrity and quality of the line over the long haul.
End Cap Features and Benefits Durable Plastic Material:
In most cases, the end cap will withstand the wear and tear of concrete and construction work. The plastic material is highly durable. 2-1/2″ Center Hole: Nutters, such as sand, mud, water, etc., can easily damage the end cap by driving a large crescent wrench into the center hole. This will cause the end cap to come off cleanly. 2-1/2″ diameter center hole: This ensures the pipe and end caps will not be damaged by sand or other material. Fits Most Pipes: The end cap is designed to provide most types of PVC, cast iron, brass, and copper pipe. It is sized to fit a standard 1″ x 1/2″ hex nut. Can Be Used On Pipes Up To 3/8″ in Dia.: The end cap can be used on pipes as small as 3/8″ in diameter. NOTE: We do not test the end cap for pressure or water leaks.
Pipe end bevel protector caps protect the pipe ends when they bend. They are made from a unique material used to fill the space between the line and its lid.
Pipe-end bevel protector caps are the most common type of bevel protector caps. They are used in the plumbing industry to protect against leaks and leaks from penetrating through pipes. For holes up to 0.7mm, these caps are just a simple cover for the pipe end cap.
For holes greater than 0.7mm (0.004″), an aluminum cap is recommended as the bevel protector cap is often too thick to fit around pipes with larger diameters. They are frequently referred to as “sump” protectors because they are used in the oil industry to cover holes at the bottom of oil sump tanks.
For larger holes, silicone pipe end protectors (called Silicone Elbow Protectors) are recommended. Pipe end bevel protector caps come in two different materials; aluminum and polyethylene. We recommend polyethylene as an excellent all-around choice, as it is more durable. Still, it may not be able to stand out well against the background color of aluminum fittings. They are available in several different thicknesses; 0.8mm – 1.5mm, 2mm – 3mm, 5mm – 6.5mm, and 10mm (0-9/16″). When buying pipe end caps for use with our fittings, you should check the specifications to ensure they will fit and are compatible with your pipes. How do I install a pipe end cap? To establish a pipe end cap into our brass, stainless steel, and rubber tubing, you must first align the pipe to be completely horizontal.
You then lay down a straight line on the inside of the pipe so that it is parallel to the outside. Then you lay a line along the outside of that straight line on each tube surface. This will ensure it will fit properly, and you can then go ahead and slide your cap into place.
Bevel Protector Pipe Caps, What is claimed is :
1. This bevel end protector protects a pipe’s bevel end by incorporating the following:
An expandable, collar-like device adapted for insertion into the line, having spaced apart ends, for protecting the pipe’s end;
Applying an initial expanding force to expand the circumference of the collar-like means to equal the rim of the pipe’s interior; and
Adapted to connect said spaced-apart ends, with said urging means structurally deformable for maintaining said initial circumferentially expanding force on said collar-like means with said wedge means removable.
2. Bevel end protectors as defined in claim 1, wherein urging means urging the spaced-apart ends apart.
3. For protecting the bevel end of a pipe, a bevel end protector comprises:
An expandable, collar-like device adapted for insertion into the line, having spaced apart ends, for protecting the pipe’s end;
To expand the circumference of the collar-like means to equal the rim of the pipe’s interior, wedge means can be inserted between said spaced-apart ends; and
urging means, adapted to connect said spaced-apart ends, for encouraging apart said lots and maintaining said initial circumferentially expanding force on said collar-like means upon structural deformation of said guiding means, said guiding means including flange portions adapted for attachment to said spaced-apart ends and an offset portion, projecting inwardly of said collar-like standards and the pipe for structurally deforming downwardly toward the interior wall of the line in response to impulsive forces delivered thereon.
4. As claimed, A hand-held hammer delivers impulsive forces to the bevel end protector.
5. A bevel end protector defined in claim 4 with a U-shaped offset portion.
6. In claim 5, the offset portion of the bevel end protector is V-shaped.
7. For positioning the collar-like means within the pipe, the bevel end protector – comprises a plurality of upstanding tabs projecting radially outwardly from said collar-like means.
8. The bevel end protector has at least one tab arranged to define a handling slot.
9. A bevel end protector for protecting an end of a pipe with beveled ends comprises:
Circumferentially expandable collar-like means within the line said collar-like means having two spaced-apart ends defining a longitudinal slot between;
a wedge for initially spacing apart said ends; and
With the collar-like means within the pipe being connected by urging means, said ends can be selectively urged apart, thereby circumferentially expanding the collar-like means within the line when the structure is deformed, and the wedge can be removed and urged together to circumferentially contract the collar-like standards within the pipe, allowing the end protector to be removed.
10. The bevel end protector, as claimed in claim 9 wherein said urging means includes flange portions adapted for attachment to said spaced-apart ends and an offset portion projecting inwardly of the pipe, which can structurally deform downwards toward the interior wall in response to impulsive forces delivered to that.
There are several advantages to using a Bevel Protector:
- Application range: 8″ – 72″
- Optimal Bevel Protection
- No contact between the pipe-end and steel of the Bevel Protector
- Easy application
- Available in standard and non-standard sizes
- Suitable for hook lifting
